Accra, December 8, 2025 — NBC Ghana Trust has donated two hundred thousand Ghana Cedis (GHC 200,000) to the Noguchi Memorial Institute for Medical Research (NMIMR) to support ongoing research into host genetic disorders in children.
This brings NBC Ghana Trust’s total contribution to the project over the past few years to GHC 250,000, reinforcing its long-term commitment to strengthening child health research in Ghana.

The presentation, held at Noguchi in Accra, was led by the Managing Director of NBC Ghana Trust, Mr. Maxwell Appiah Danso, and a member of the Board, Mr. William Asiedu Yeboah. They reaffirmed NBC Ghana Trust’s dedication to backing critical health initiatives that improve the well-being of Ghanaian families.

Mr. William Yeboah noted that the support forms part of a continuing commitment, saying, “NBC Ghana Trust will keep championing more education and awareness on these conditions,” while commending Noguchi for its sustained efforts.

The donation was received by Prof. Dorothy Yeboah-Manu, Director of the Noguchi Memorial Institute for Medical Research, along with Dr. Bright Adu, Senior Research Fellow and Head of Genomics and Bioinformatics. Prof. Yeboah-Manu thanked NBC Ghana Trust and reiterated that early detection of genetic disorders can significantly improve child health outcomes.

Dr. Bright Adu added that “many of these conditions, though often unnoticed, can be effectively managed when detected early, sometimes with simple dietary or care adjustments.”

The continued support from NBC Ghana Trust is expected to advance research and strengthen public awareness, giving more children a better start in life.
